Q. What does the Global Commerce Business Division do?
The Global Commerce Business Division operates OLIVE YOUNG Global, introducing K-beauty and wellness products to customers in more than 60 countries while helping Korean brands reach and grow in international markets.
More than simply serving as a cross-border e-commerce channel, the division aims to be a global hub for K-beauty, analyzing customer characteristics and shopping behaviors across markets to create experiences tailored to different audiences. Through data-driven marketing and localized promotions, the team works across the customer journey, from attracting international customers to the platform to encouraging purchase and repeat engagement.
OLIVE YOUNG Global also aims to become a community platform where customers around the world can discover products, explore content, and stay connected to the latest K-beauty trends. By turning global customer interest into tangible business opportunities, the platform helps promising Korean brands understand how customers in different markets respond to their products and build a stronger foothold overseas.
Q. How is the division structured, and what does each team do?
The Global Commerce Business Division is made up of the Global Commerce Strategy Team, Global Growth Marketing Team, Global User Growth Team, Global Content Commerce, and Global Onsite Marketing.
The Global Commerce Strategy Team serves as the division’s strategic compass, analyzing market conditions across key countries, developing long-term business strategies, and identifying new opportunities for growth.
The Global Growth Marketing Team focuses on customer acquisition through performance advertising and affiliate marketing, while managing key early-stage conversion metrics to maximize the impact of new-user acquisition.
The Global User Growth Team analyzes user behavior in depth to develop membership structures and reward programs, while optimizing the customer journey to turn first-time shoppers into loyal customers.
The Global Content Commerce Team uses social listening tools and trend analysis to develop market-specific social content and influencer marketing strategies. By understanding what resonates with customers in different regions, the team works to build a global community around K-beauty.
The Global Onsite Marketing team plans and operates major promotional events, including regular mega sales and seasonal campaigns. Using customer data and onsite insights, the team develops initiatives designed to improve conversion and drive sales.
Q. What skills are most important for working in Global Commerce?
Above all, a deep understanding of global customers and markets is essential. This goes beyond language skills: team members need to understand shopping cultures and preferences across different countries and continuously learn what resonates with customers from their perspective.
A data-driven mindset is equally important. Team members work with a wide range of information, from key performance metrics within the platform to external social data, to identify customer behaviors and uncover new opportunities.
Agility is another key skill. Global trends can shift quickly, so the ability to identify emerging trends early, test new ideas, and move quickly from insight to action is essential.
Finally, strong communication and collaboration skills are critical. Because the division works closely with teams across strategy, marketing, merchandising, technology, and other functions, team members need to be able to align different perspectives, build collaboration, and move projects forward together.
Q. What career growth can you expect?
Working within the OLIVE YOUNG Global ecosystem offers opportunities to build expertise across a wide range of areas, including international customer data analysis, performance and CRM marketing, onsite promotion planning, and content marketing.
Through close collaboration with teams across the business, team members also gain a broader understanding of how a global e-commerce business operates, from customer insights and marketing to commercial strategy and execution.
As they build experience turning global customer trends and data into business results, team members can expand their careers beyond individual functions. Over time, this experience can open opportunities to take ownership of business growth in specific regions, develop global platform strategies, or build expertise as a commerce professional with a broader view of international markets.
