A bag may hold the things we reach for every day, but open it up and you may find a glimpse into someone’s routines, preferences, and expertise. As part of 'what’s in my bag,' an original content series by 'editorial by OLIVE YOUNG', we take a closer look at what OLIVE YOUNG employees carry with them, from everyday essentials to new discoveries, and the stories behind what they reach for every day.

“Part of the fun is discovering the combinations that work just right for me.”

Today, we're looking inside the makeup bag of T from OLIVE YOUNG’s MD Business Strategy Team, who is known in the office as the quintessential autumn warm tone. Having joined OLIVE YOUNG as a merchandiser (MD) and worked across several product categories, T has developed a discerning eye for beauty and a makeup routine that feels distinctly her own. From a foundation-free base and a three-layer blush technique to a lip combination that lasts well beyond lunchtime, she shares the tried-and-tested pairings behind her everyday look.

Q. We heard you're known as the quintessential autumn warm tone. What goes into your makeup bag, and what guides your choices?

I feel like my makeup bag gets a seasonal makeover along with my wardrobe. As someone with an autumn warm-tone complexion, I'm especially drawn to muted, rich shades this time of year. I've always loved color cosmetics, but working across different product categories since joining OLIVE YOUNG has taught me to look beyond simply choosing pretty colors. I've become much more selective, paying attention to what works for my skin and fits into my everyday routine.

Today, I've brought along the autumn warm-tone staples that have made it through countless personal trials, along with practical everyday combinations that feel effortless but still make a statement.

Q. Your skin looks incredibly fresh and even, but we hear you don't use any liquid or cushion foundations.

That's right. I've never been a fan of heavy, full-coverage base makeup, and I find that cushions can start to feel cakey or look dull as the day goes on. That's why I eventually settled on a foundation-free routine using just two products: a tone-up sunscreen and concealer.

I start with the beplain Sunmuse Tone Up & Correcting Sunscreen in Peach Pink, which brightens and evens out my overall complexion. It has a hydrating texture and a natural peachy tint, making it a great alternative to foundation. Next, I use the hince Second Skin Cover Concealer to spot-conceal areas of discoloration and blemishes. I'm already on my seventh tube, so it's safe to say this is a holy-grail product for me. It applies in a thin, seamless layer while delivering the coverage and staying power you'd expect from a premium brand.

Q. Your base routine is minimal, but it looks like you have quite a few blushes in your bag!

I've been really into soft, blurred blush looks that give the cheeks a fresh, velvety finish. I find that layering different textures is the key to keeping the color looking clear and vibrant throughout the day.

I start with WAKEMAKE Shaking Blur Cheek in 06 Fig Tea, sweeping it generously across my cheeks. Its slightly milky undertone creates a soft, bright base. For the second layer, I tap on AGE20’s Velvet Haze Blusher in 07 Mauve Raspberry to bring a little more color to my cheeks. It's an interesting shade that sits somewhere between warm and cool tones, so it blends naturally into my complexion without looking out of place.

For the final step, I add a powder blush. When I wear my hair down, it sometimes sticks to liquid blush or leaves marks on my cheeks. I initially started using powder blush to prevent that, but then thought, why not choose one that adds a beautiful finish, too? That's how I found Alternative Stereo Sugar Crunch Blusher in Nude Crunch. It has delicate gold shimmer throughout, and a light sweep with a brush sets the layers underneath while adding a sophisticated, luminous sheen.

Q. We hear you have a little secret behind your long-lasting lip routine, too.

My colleagues sometimes ask how my lip color still looks so fresh after lunch. The secret is lip tattoo tint. A lot of people think of lip tattoo products as seasonal items for summer vacations or swimming, but I consider them an essential year-round staple. In fact, applying one is part of my morning routine throughout the year. Before I start drying my hair, I apply a generous layer of Oiad Liptique and leave it on while I get ready. Once my hair is dry, I simply peel it off. I mainly use shades No. 5 WEIRVE and No. 6 WINTTO. One leans warm and the other cool, so I choose between them depending on what I'm wearing that day.

Unlike older lip tattoo formulas that could leave behind an uneven or overly artificial stain, this one leaves a clear tint that closely resembles the original color of the product. I use it as a base and apply my everyday lip color on top. Even after a lot of talking or a full lunch, the underlying color stays put, which means much less time spent worrying about touch-ups.

Q. Even with an autumn warm-tone complexion, you seem to pull off cool-toned lip colors beautifully. What's your secret?

It's all thanks to BANILA CO Cover Lip Base in Full Beige. I'm already on my third tube, and it's one of those products that feels almost magical. Its muted coral base gently neutralizes the natural redness of my lips and softens the contrast between my lip color and the lip tattoo tint underneath.

I apply a thin layer first, then add my chosen lip color to the inner part of my lips. This helps tone down shades that might otherwise look too stark against my complexion, allowing them to blend in more naturally. It's my little secret to experimenting with all kinds of lip colors without feeling restricted by my personal color tone.

Q. What's your go-to everyday lip color to wear over that base?

Without a doubt, it's Alternative Stereo Lip Potion Caramel Glaze in 05 Cacao 50%. It has a rich, syrup-like texture that's thick and glossy, leaving my lips looking plump and hydrated for hours. The shade is a deep, muted brownish rose that feels especially suited to autumn warm tones, and it works beautifully with almost any outfit. It's the lip product I instinctively reach for on busy mornings.

On days when I want to switch things up, I go for Losy Kim PDRN Tinted Lip Ampoule in Coconut. It looks like quite an intense brown in the tube, but applies as a sheer, translucent wash of color. It gives me that understated yet distinctive look you'd expect to find at a niche beauty boutique overseas. I save it for days when I want my makeup to have a little more attitude.

Q. We also spotted a beauty device tucked into your bag. Do you carry it with you regularly?

It's the LG Pra.L Galvanic Booster. Its compact size makes it easy to slip into my bag, even when I'm traveling for work or on vacation. I mainly use it as part of my nighttime skincare routine to help my skincare products absorb more effectively. I pay particular attention to areas that tend to get dry and flaky, especially around my lips and smile lines.

Before going to bed, I also apply a generous layer of ETUDE Ginger Sugar Overnight Lip Mask to keep my lips hydrated. With this routine, my lips feel smooth and well-prepped the next morning, making it much easier to apply matte lip products or lip tattoo tints without emphasizing dry patches.

Q. Finally, do you have any makeup tips for OLIVE YOUNG customers looking to refresh their looks this autumn?

It's easy to fall into a routine of using the same familiar shades and techniques. But I've found that having just one good base product that works for your complexion can open up a much wider range of colors to experiment with.

This fall, I'd encourage everyone to give a chance to shades they've usually passed over or product categories they've never tried before. You might just discover a new favorite combination you never expected to love!
