for the planet

OLIVE YOUNG accurately measures and reduces the environmental impact of its business.
We manage Scope 1 and 2 emissions through a greenhouse gas inventory, cut logistics carbon through consolidated shipping, on-foot delivery, and SAF, and practice a circular economy through the Beauty Cycle empty-container collection campaign and waste reduction across stores, logistics, and products.

OLIVE YOUNG precisely monitors environmental impacts resulting from its operations
and conducts carbon footprint reduction initiatives across the online and offline platform services.

GHG Monitoring

Building Greenhouse Gas Inventory

In 2022, Olive Young established a greenhouse gas inventory in accordance with CJ Group's greenhouse gas emission calculation guidelines.
The company has managed Scope 1 and 2 emissions since 2021 and plans to set further reduction goals and develop specific strategies through continuous monitoring.

Lowering Carbon Footprint

Shortens last-mile delivery distances through O2O services such as Oneul Drim and actively encourages eco-friendly delivery methods such as walking and bicycles.
Additionally, in partnership with DHL Korea, the company uses sustainable aviation fuel to reduce its carbon footprint in overseas delivery.

Reducing Carbon Footprint Through O2O Services2)

  • Foot Delivery

Oneul Drim orders within 1.5km are delivered by walking.

As of 2023, the average delivery distance was 780m, with the deliveries made on foot or by bicycle.

  • Pickup Service

Customers picking up directly from stores replaces delivery by motorcycle or car.

The average delivery distance per case for motorcycle delivery is 1.5km, and store pickups reduce environmental impact of last-mile delivery by this amount.

  • Micro-Fulfillment Centers (MFC)

MFCs have enhanced customer accessibility and significantly shortened the distance from existing distribution centers to customers.

By 2025, the company intends to lower its carbon footprint by adding over 20 MFCs in regional hubs and smaller cities.

Use of Sustainable Aviation Fuel

OLIVE YOUNG signed a partnership agreement with DHL Korea to use the GoGreen Plus service powered by sustainable aviation fuel (SAF),
applying it to Global Mall deliveries to 57 countries worldwide.
SAF is an alternative fuel made from used cooking oil and animal and vegetable fats. Because it emits up to 80% less carbon dioxide than conventional jet fuel,
it delivers an annual reduction of approximately 208.94 tons of greenhouse gases.3)

We contribute to building a recycling system for the beauty industry through the Beauty Cycle campaign, which turns empty cosmetic containers back into resources,
and through waste reduction efforts across stores, logistics, and products.

OLIVE YOUNG BEAUTY CYCLE

OLIVE YOUNG collects and recycles used cosmetic containers through Beauty Cycle, its customer-participation empty-container collection campaign.
We regularly deliver the containers gathered at stores to a sorting partner, where they are separated by material and processed into raw materials through dedicated steps such as crushing and washing.
We also recover hard-to-recycle containers, whose complex structures and residue would normally rule them out, and turn them into resources, working to reduce plastic waste at the distribution and consumption stages and to expand consumer-driven resource circulation.

Waste Reduction Initiatives

Reducing Logistics Waste

To reduce logistics waste generated in delivery,
we introduced paper cushioning made from recycled paper, one-touch boxes, and easily recyclable
paper tape, replacing plastic packaging materials.

  • Sustainable Store

To reduce paper use in store operations, we run a smart receipt service that replaces paper receipts
and have switched from paper price labels to electronic shelf labels, now in place at 100% of
    directly operated stores nationwide.

    * Electronic shelf label adoption: 100% (as of May 2025)

  • Expanding Refill Products

At the product level, we are expanding designs that let containers be used again.
We offer pouch-type refills that reuse the original containers, and we are working with partners
to switch containers to recycled plastic.
